Is there anything that epitomises Melbourne's unique charm quite like the sight of a W-Class tram clattering through the autumn leaves on Victoria Street? It's as quintessentially Melburnian as ducking into a laneway cafe for a flat white, embodying the rich heritage and timeless appeal of Marvellous Melbourne.
These iconic W-Class trams, built by the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB) from 1923 to 1956, are symbols of the city's historical and ongoing love affair with public transit. Preserved by The National Trust, the remaining fleet of these electric marvels hasn't been retired to the garage of history. Instead, 11 of these cultural treasures continue to carry passengers, offering a nostalgic journey through the heart of the city on the free City Circle route.
Join us in stepping back in time with our tribute to the unmistakable W-Class tram, a true Suburban Icon, and immerse yourself in the nostalgia of Melbourne's storied tramway legacy.
